From next week, Barbados’ trade facilitation needs and priorities will be assessed.
Facilitated by the Ministry of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, in association with the World Trade Organization (WTO), the four-day workshop, which starts Monday and continues until Thursday will take place at the Courtyard Marriott, Hastings, Christ Church.
Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development Donville Inniss will deliver the feature address at the opening ceremony, on Monday.
The main objective of the assessment is to review Barbados’ trade facilitation measures, and it is anticipated that this will assist the country in accessing the special provisions for developing countries at the WTO.
These special provisions will also provide for extended trade facilitation implementation schedules as well as access to technical assistance and capacity building support.
Participants at the workshop will include representatives from the private sector and key Government agencies. (BGIS)
