Police are investigating a threat against Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler, but denied that the information was acquired through wire-tapping.
This is the latest twist to the revelation from Sinckler in Parliament on Tuesday that police told him they had “credible information that two people were overheard planning to shoot me”, and the police had offered him security because of this threat to his life.
Police public relations officer, Inspector David Welch, confirmed yesterday that the force was actively investigating a threat to Sinckler, but said he could not go into details on the matter and the protection being accorded the minister.
Welch also said he could not reveal “at this time” where or how the information was received, but said it was not acquired through wire-tapping.
“We don’t have any other threats against any other Government minister that I am aware of,” he added.
