NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) – Bahamas police are being kept busy this Christmas season having to deal with murders, robberies and stabbings.
Police said that they are seeking the help of the public in solving a shooting incident that left one man dead yesterday.
The authorities said that the man was shot in the head while in a truck in front of a business place in the capital.
“Preliminary reports indicate that the victim had just collected the deposit bag from a local business establishment when two men in a …car pulled up. One of the men exited the vehicle armed with a handgun, fired a shot at the victim and took a bag from the seat of the truck. The two men then sped off,” the police said in a statement, adding that the getaway vehicle was later recovered abandoned.
Earlier, the law enforcement officials had named 37 year-old Tamar Ricardo Pennerman as the victim shot and killed in front of his home.
Police said that Pennerman was shot multiple times by a man, who fled on a motorcycle.
The authorities said two men ages 22 and 21 years have been hospitalised as a result of a stabbing incident on Monday night.
They said both men had been involved in an “altercation with an unknown man resulting in the man stabbing both of the victims” and that one of the victims was in serious condition at hospital.
The police have also been kept busy investigating a shooting incident on Monday night that has left an unidentified man suffering gunshot wounds to his lower back.
The police said they have also recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition following a tip off in another matter. No one was arrested in this matter.
In addition to the criminal acts, the police said they have discovered three marijuana fields in North Andros, with an estimated street value of US$250 000.00. No arrests have been made.
