The?Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) is throwing its support behind independent Senator Professor Henry Fraser in his call for top health officials to discuss the shortage of basic drugs and other supplies at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
Fraser, during a debate in the Senate last Monday which dealt with Government’s guarantee of a QEH loan, said Minister of Health John Boyce, Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler and health professionals ought to address a shortage of basic drugs and other supplies at a meeting.
He described the situation as “a Christmas crisis and a New Year crisis” that must be solved.
In its release, BAMP said its members had confirmed the “shortages of basic drugs and supplies have impacted the quality of care delivered at our principal tertiary health care institution and polyclinics”. (JS/PR)
