THE KFC Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy celebrated a remarkable year of achievements in local competition at their recent awards ceremony held in the Pine.
With a beaming Member of Parliament and manager Santia Bradshaw as well as her father and former MP for the area, Delisle Bradshaw, present, several awards were presented and the academy also honoured many people who have made longstanding contributions to football in the Pine.
The Pinelands Academy won the Barbados Football Association’s Under-13 Youth Tournament in July and followed up by capturing the Richard “Juggy” Forde Youth Soccer Classic.
Master of ceremonies Rozanne Parris-Bryan said the academy saluted KFC for its support.
“The corporate endorsement by such a major brand as KFC has attracted significant media attention to the academy and greatly enhanced the support from other corporate entities.
“It has also revived the community’s interest in football as can be seen in the support for this team,” said Parris-Bryan.
Marketing executive Lisa Davis said KFC was happy to be able to provide development opportunities to young people through football and to extend KFC’s Restaurants’ “so good experience” throughout the communities.
Young Jayden Blanche was awarded the Player Of The Year 2013 while the hard-working Fernando “Burga” Best was voted Coach Of The Year.
