The Barbados Council for the Disabled received an early New Year present when the Nation Publishing Co. Limited recently presented part proceeds from the Nation Funathlon.
The Council, the official organization responsible for championing the rights of all persons with disabilities, was the official charity for Nation Fun Events 2013.
It also benefited from a donation from proceeds of the Nation Fun Ride in July.
In making the presentation, Senior Corporate Communications Officer Marilyn Sealy said Nation Publishing was pleased to be able to give back to the Council.
“We wish to officially thank the Barbados Council for the Disabled for partnering with us during our 40th anniversary. We were pleased to be able to give back to such an active charity in our community and we hope that the donation will go a long way in assisting them in achieving their objectives. We also wish to extend thanks to all who participated in our Fun Events for 2013 as their involvement also played a significant role in us being able to make a contribution to the Council.”
President of the Council, Senator Kerryann Ifill, expressed thanks on behalf of the Council.
“The Nation has been a supporter of the Barbados Council for the Disabled for a very long time. We are always pleased when organizations express their social responsibility. It also feels good to be associated with something healthy and positive. I am extremely pleased to be receiving on behalf of the Council.”
