Retired Barbados diplomat and long-serving United Nations employee Dr Christopher Hackett turned 70 recently and his wife Eleanor Anne made sure the milestone was celebrated in grand style, treating her husband to a big birthday bash.
Chris celebrated with family and a host of friends from Barbados and a few others who flew in for the party at his Bottom Bay, St Philip home. Glowing words were spoken about her dad by his daughter Suzanne and his son David while other guests showered him with congratulations.
The still youthful-looking former diplomat was once Barbados’ permanent representative to the United Nations where he subsequently worked in various capacities. His last posting was chief of Caribbean Division, Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations Development Programme.
He retired from the UN?Secretariat in 2003 after serving for 32 years.
