WHILE THE OTHER HOUSES were fighting to survive, Green were busy adding title No. 5.
Luther Thorne Memorial’s annual school sports turned out to be business as usual for Green, as they romped to their fifth consecutive title at the National Stadium yesterday.
Yellow tried their best to end the defending champion’s reign, but when the dust had settled, they too were once again left green with envy.
The eventual winners finished with 590 points, 20 ahead of Yellow (570), while Red (514) captured third place, and Blue brought up the rear with 335 points. Blue still had the honour of producing the victor ludorum in Shem Williams, who completely dominated the Under-13 Boys’ division.
Yellow’s Lekeisha Reid was just as impressive in the Girls’ Under-13s on her way to capturing the victrix ludorum title.
Williams copped gold in the 100 metres, 200, 400 and 800, while also finishing second in the cricket ball throw, accumulating 41 points in the process.
Reid was simply a class above the rest on her way to victories in the 100, 200, 400 and 600 metres. She also placed sixth in the cricket ball throw to finish as the top female athlete with 37 points.
Green House were led by outstanding performances from Christophe Yearwood and Aquan Crichlow.
Yearwood was the top Under-11 male athlete, grabbing the divisional title by securing 27 points. Crichlow ruled the Under-9 division, collecting 28 points.
Blue’s Kezia Clarke copped the Under-11 Girls’ division title after amassing 28 points, and Donesha Bartlett of Red House finished on 27 points to be crowned the Under-9 Girls’ champion.
