BARBADOS are the champions of the NAGICO Super50 regional cricket tournament, pulling off a tense 17-run victory over hosts Trinidad and Tobago tonight at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Led by 83 from Dwayne Smith, who had an opening stand of 127 with Kraigg Brathwaite, Barbados reached 252 all out in 48.4 overs. Jonathan Carter also made a huge contribution with 49 before he was out lbw.
Trinidad and Tobago, reeling on 95 for four, staged a comeback before falling on 235.
Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin put them back in the fight with 68. It was tense in the final overs, with Rayad Emrit (27) and Ravi Rampaul also putting up some resistance at the bottom of the order.

Smith was named Man of the match. (SAT)
