JACKSONVILLE, Florida (AP) – A Florida man has been convicted of three counts of attempted second-degree murder after an argument over loud music outside of a convenience store.
A mistrial was declared today on a first-degree murder charge after the jury couldn’t agree on it.
The 12 jurors also found 47-year-old Michael Dunn guilty of shooting into an occupied car.
Dunn was charged with fatally shooting 17-year-old Jordan Davis of Marietta, Georgia, in 2012 after they got into an argument over the music that was coming from Davis’ parked vehicle.
Dunn fired 10 shots, hitting the vehicle nine times. Also in the vehicle were three friends of Davis.
Dunn claimed he acted in self-defence, testifying that he thought he saw a gun pointed at him from Davis’ vehicle.
