The island’s economy and its at-risk women stand to benefit from the Girl to Girl Programme that has won the $50 000 prize in the JADA Group’s One Idea Campaign.
Last Wednesday, Latoya Lane, the woman behind the Nature Fun Ranch (NFR) charity that took first place in the campaign, said the project gave women aged 14 to 24 the opportunity to get involved in and run their own agri-business.
Given the business development aspect of the programme, general manager of Jada Group, Paul Lewis, praised the idea, stating that the introduction of more charitable developmental organisations across the island would make a big difference in the economy.
Speaking from the NFR base at Bruce Vale, St Andrew, Lewis said: “Who knows, but maybe out of this project a whole bunch of entrepreneurs will spring up and if you had enough of these projects going on across the island, it would make a big difference to the economy.
