African taste at day nursery

AFRICAN HERITAGE awareness with a flavour came to the Government Hill Day Nursery yesterday.
Chef Creig Greenidge taught the eager tots how to roll dumplings before treating them to the African fare of a chicken, potato and dumpling dish.
The interactive session saw Chef Creig giving the children a glimpse into the lives of their African cousins, including the foods they eat.
Senior teacher at the nursery, Katrina Wooding-Small explained that the culinary presentation was organised to give the children “an authentic experience of something African, just introducing them to some of the foods and letting them recognise that what they are accustomed eating, like ground provisions, are actually foods out of Africa”.
Yesterday’s event is one out of a week of activities, which will culminate with the school’s African Awareness dress day on Friday. (H-LE)
