YESTERDAY WAS D-DAY for the removal of trolleys from fish markets across the island.
However, some boat owners at the Berinda Cox Fish Market in Oistins, Christ Church, have complained that no contingency arrangements have been made to deal with transporting fishing equipment to and from the jetty.
“I got two batteries in my boat that weigh about 300 pounds,” explained ice boat owner Hallam Mayers. “If I carry my batteries to get charged, I can’t lift them down by the boat, I have to use the trolley . . . . They must take some consideration and discuss it with us at a boat owner’s level.”
He reported that officers from the Royal Barbados Police Force were on hand around 10 a.m. to oversee the removal of trolleys from the market.
