Jamaica facing tough task

BARBADOS lead Jamaica by 381 runs at the close of the third day’s play in their WICB Regional 4Day cricket match at Sabina Park.
After restricting Jamaica to 204 in the first innings, Barbados have reached 162 for two in their second innings.
Captain Kraigg Brathwaite missed out on what would have been the third century by a Barbadian batsman in the match when he fell for 91. He hit six fours and one six, facing 118 balls.
Brathwaite and fellow opener Omar Phillips (48) laid a firm foundation for Barbados to push for an outright victory tomorrow. Kirk Edwards is unbeaten on 21 and Jonathan Carter is yet to get off the mark.
Earlier, resuming on 150 for four, Jamaica lost the next four wickets for only 54 runs. Overnight batsman Nkrumah Bonner (31) did not add to his total and Tamar Lambert went for one.
Wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh scored 20 as the last line of resistance, but Jamie Merchant (4) and Jerome Taylor (2) went cheaply. Nikita Miller was left not out on six, while David Bernard Jr was unable to bat because of an injured knee.
Ashley Nurse took four wickets for 63 runs, while Carlos Brathwaite and Jonathan Carter took two each.
Summarised scores: Barbados 423 and 162-2 (Kraigg Brathwaite 91, O. Phillips 48, K. Edwards 21 n.o.). Jamaica 204-9 (N. Bonner 31, C. Baugh 20; A. Nurse 4-63, J. Carter 2-15, C. Brathwaite 2-23).
