Crime watch

THE?prospect?of violent crime has become a worry for several businesses in the private sector.
Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA), Alex McDonald, made the assertion yesterday at a Press briefing dealing with the issues facing the private sector, such as rising unemployment and related social effects in the country. It was held at the Geddes Grant Annex in Whitepark, St Michael.
“The sense that we get now is a big fear in businesses about armed crimes, products moving off our shelves that we didn’t sell and crimes against the person.
“While a business tends to be brick and mortar, the people who work in it are very critical too and what we are seeing is the fear of violent crime starting to having a telling impact on what shifts one can work, or whether one can work the late shift and handle cash.
