BARBADIANS ARE gravitating towards alternative sources of energy in light of the rising cost of electricity.
Richard Singh, sales manager of Innogen Technologies Inc, said the company’s figures had been on a steady increase over the past two years.
“At the end of 2012 we had sold less than 50 units, but then in 2013 the figure was more than 125 and in the first quarter of this year we had 178 units installed, which represents the equivalent of more than half of a megawatt.
“With the removal of the diesel subsidy and the introduction of the cess to Barbados Light & Power (BL&P), more people are turning to us. April will be a big month for us as the cost of electricity continues to go up,” he said.
