Thirty-eight of the best junior volleyball players benefited from a one-week seminar put on by the Regional Volleyball Development Centre (RVDC) and conducted by FIVB instructor Ramiro Hart which was held at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex last week.
The highly intense physical and theoretical sessions exposed the future stars of the sport to the components of preparation and the correct execution of the various skills involved in playing volleyball at a higher level.
Director of the RVDC, Andrew Hoyte said that the course would have benefited the boys and girls greatly since Barbados was looking to push even higher in the NORCECA youth and junior competitions this year after a successful 2013.
“Last year we qualified for the next round of the NORCECA youth and juniors and with most of the players who will represent Barbados attending the course, they will be better armed for the higher level of competition.
“In addition, the next wave of national players would have attended the seminar and they would have gained valuable training to make that step up to the national junior teams as well as to help their respective schools to perform even better in their various competitions,” Hoyte said. (KB)
