Jamaicans charged with drug offences

TWO JAMAICANS HAVE been arrested and charged with drug offences after allegedly attempting to bring cannabis into the country.
Fifty-six-year-old Albert Loyd Silburn has been charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of 1.5 kilogrammes of the drug.
According to police, he arrived by air from Jamaica on Wednesday about 7:15 a.m. and was interviewed by police.  He was referred to Customs where a search of his luggage was conducted and five taped packages of the illegal drug were discovered concealed in his suitcase. 
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Dion Recardo Smith was charged with possession of half pound of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.
He arrived by air from Jamaica on April 18, 2014 and was interviewed by police after clearing immigration.  He was referred to a medical facility where he passed out 29 taped packets containing cannabis which he had ingested.
He was formally charged on Wednesday. (PR/NB)
