Top Gear boosts “soft” period

Acting Prime Minister Richard Sealy says the Top Gear Festival planned for mid-May has given the local car rental business a boost.
He told reporters today that the big motor show was doing precisely what Government intended it should – that is, strengthen tourist arrivals and spending during a traditionally “soft” period.
Sealy also said a lot of restaurants had reported good business because of improved tourist arrivals from Britain and Europe during the just-ended winter.
The inaugural Top Gear Festival Barbados will be held on May 17 and 18 at Bushy Park. It is expected to draw tens of thousands of petrol-heads for a thrilling weekend of high-octane motoring action with Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.
Ace Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton will be the main drawing card.  (TY)
