GEEST?LINE?has brought cargo valued at about US$20 million to Barbados in time for today’s start of the Top Gear Festival at the Bushy Park race circuit in St Philip.
Managing director of the company, Captain Peter Dixon, said 33 vehicles owned by international participants were shipped to Barbados in about 15 40-foot containers, though the most prized car of international champion driver Lewis Hamilton was brought in by air.
Geest Line agents from throughout the region were in Barbados for a two-day conference headed by Dixon, who is based in Britain.
He said?the event was “a great thing for Barbados” and Geest Line was happy to be part of it.
“We support the Barbados Rally every year. We ship a lot of rally cars out from the UK for competitors coming from Europe and we had an approach from the Barbados Tourism Authority to help with Top Gear, so we have acted as a trade sponsor for Top Gear,” he said. (GC)
