It was no surprise that Queen’s College (QC) and Coleridge & Parry (CP) carried away the lion’s share of prizes from the Super Centre Schools Under-19 Volleyball Competitions when the award ceremony was held on Friday at the Wildey Gymnasium.
CP’s boys took the league crown, while QC’s boys captured the knockout title. QC’s girls won both the league and knockout crowns with a totally dominant team being led by all-rounder Janine Mayers winning both the league and knockout MVPs, as well as Best Passer and Best Spiker.
Carlos Cyrus of CP took the league’s MVP, with Stephen Packer being voted Best Passer, Kemar Hinds Best Setter and Ashan Jordan Best Defender – all from the Ashton Hall, St  Peter school.
Adam Niles and Ashley Marshall of QC won the respective boys’ and girls’ Best Blocker awards while Christ Church Foundation picked up two awards, with Andriy Stapleton being the Best Spiker and Rhea Carter taking the Best Setter. Niles also won the knockout MVP crown.
In a champion of champions battle to precede the launch of the Under-16 competition CP defeated QC, 28-26, 25-17. (KB)
