Queen’s nod for nine

Nine Barbadians have been honoured in the Queen’s 2014 Birthday List.
The Commander of the Order of The British Empire (CBE) has been awarded to the chairman of the Public Service Commission, David Bowen for public service; chief executive officer of Sagicor Life Inc. Dr Patricia Downes-Grant for services to the financial sector, and retired permanent secretary Lionel Nurse for public service.
Awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire were private secretary to the Governor General, Patricia Layne, MBE, for her services as the private secretary to three governors-general of Barbados; retired deputy commissioner of police Bertie Hinds for his service to the Royal Barbados Police Force, and Dr Adrian Lorde for his service to sports medicine.
The Member of the Order of the British Empire was bestowed on a teacher, and two veteran broadcasters.
