Memories bring tears

The memories of Shamar “Red Boy” Ifill (inset) lit up the gloomy skies in Ellerton last night during a candle night vigil.
Close to 200 people gathered to remember a “fun-loving” and “friendly” person who loved football, especially Brazil. Tears flowed for the 21-year-old who succumbed to his injuries last week Wednesday, one day after being shot in his stomach following an altercation with another man.
His mother, Angela Ifill, was inconsolable, weeping throughout the hour-long vigil.
During the night their were tributes in word, song and prayer for Ifill, with his number “7” Ellerton jersey also being retired. (RB)
