Men charged in $1.3m drug seizure

POLICE HAVE ARRESTED and charged two men in connection with Thursday’s seizure of more than 600 pounds of cannabis, worth about $1.3 million.
They are 36-year-old fisherman Sabastian Thorpe of Porters Road, Queen Street, St Peter and  Junior Mascoll, a 28-year-old groom of Pipers Avenue, Bayville, St Michael.
The men are expected to appear in the District E/Holetown Court tomorrow to face charges of possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of 661 pounds of cannabis.
Thorpe and Mascoll were held during a operation led by the Drug Squad and supported by the police Marine Unit and  the Barbados Coast Guard where a boat was intercepted five nautical miles off Alleyne’s Bay, near Mount Standfast, St James. (PR/NB)
