MINISTER OF INDUSTRY Donville Inniss has made a call for local supermarkets to do as much as they possibly can to stock and sell locally produced goods.
While officially opening the newest Massy Stores Supermarket at Haggatt Hall, St Michael this morning, the Minister said he was getting complaints every day about the need for more support for local produce by supermarkets.
Inniss acknowledged that merchandising was a very expensive undertaking for businesses, but he asked them to assist local manufacturers.
He also urged the manufacturers to ensure consistency and quality in the goods supplied to retail outlets. (GC)
