Day break

The Pic-O-De-Crop Finals and Foreday Morning Jam will be held on separate days, while Grand Kadooment bandleaders should be getting tax breaks next year, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley has announced.

He disclosed the changes for the 2015 Crop Over Festival on Saturday night during the awards ceremony for the 2014 season at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination.

Pic-O-De-Crop and Foreday Morning were separated this year because of an adverse weather forecast.

“This year we had 54 bands registered for Foreday Morning, but only 45 actually revelled on the road. So phenomenal had been the growth of this event that it is now clear that it is necessary for this event to be held on a separate day in order to allow for more efficient and more effective management of the event.

“Notwithstanding the fact that the decision taken this year was in reaction to impending bad weather, we had an opportunity to give this a test run. We have decided that the 2015 Foreday Morning Jam will be held on Friday, July 31, and the Pic-O-De-Crop Finals will take place on Saturday, August 1.”

Next year’s festival will be from May 24 to August 3.(Green Bananas Media)
