Drug accused gets bail

NICHOLI JABARI BLENMAN of Fordes Road, Clapham, St Michael  was granted bail of $60 000 with one surety when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court today charged with the importation of 20 pounds of cannabis.

Public relations officer Inspector David Welch said the 27-year-old went to a bond in Bridgetown to collect a barrel containing foodstuff from the United States yesterday.

The barrel was searched in his presence and 11 cans bearing the labels of a variety of food were reportedly discovered to contain the drug.

Blenman was detained and subsequently charged by the police with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

He was ordered to surrender his passport and will return to court on December 2, 2014. (PR/NB)
