Police constable Renair Jemmott has been officially arrested and charged with abuse of public office.

The 28-year-old of Green Hill, St Michael, is alleged to have agreed to accept payment from a man to drop the charges for two traffic offences.

During an operation yesterday in Queen’s Park, Jemmott was held after allegedly making arrangements to collect money he demanded from the man, reported to be a soldier in the Barbados Defence Force.

Jemmott, who is attached to the Traffic Division, is expected to appear in the District A Magistrates’ Court today. (PR/SAT)
