Bleak times ahead, warns Husbands

A BARBADOS LABOUR PARTY politician is predicting Government could soon be raising bus fares and introducing health service fees.

St James South candidate Sandra Husbands, speaking at her branch’s election of officers at the West Terrace Primary School on Sunday, painted a bleak picture for the island and warned Barbadians to brace themselves for further economic and social hardships.

“One of the things that is going to become really important is to understand what is ahead of us. The Barbados economy is in a downslide and as yet there is nothing on the ground to either halt or turn the slide. What that is going to mean is that it will continue to deteriorate.

“This is going to have a greater adverse impact than even what has passed before. Right now families are feeling the bite of the Municipal Waste Tax and government is going to find that it will have to introduce new measures in this coming Budget,” she said. (SDB Media)
