A grieving Christ Church family is wondering if the woman they buried a month ago is really their loved one.
Christopher Ifill and his wife Janet, of Christ Church, say Christopher’s mother, Jean Ifill, who was buried on October 7, was so unrecognisable lying in her casket, that mourners who attended her funeral at the Haggatt Hall Wesleyan Holiness Church, were in shock when they viewed her body.
“Nobody knew who the person was that we buried,” cried an upset Janet, who described the body in the casket as extremely dark and big while her mother-in-law was brown-skinned and slim.
The family said they were given a verbal apology by the person at Belmont Funeral Home, who embalmed the body and also promised a refund by an official there for the embalming process, which they have bluntly refused to accept.
Janet explained that her 74-year-old mother-in-law passed away on September 27, of natural causes at her St George home. She said she had no ailments such as high blood pressure or liver problems, which would have led to discoloration of the body.
