Jobs at FLOW and Cable & Wireless could be on the line with the merger of the two telecommunications companies.
That’s the assessment of Dr Don Marshall, head of the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, and Barbadians continue to react to news on Thursday that Cable & Wireless Communications based in the United Kingdom, but with its operations in the West Indies and Latin America, was buying Columbus International, the parent company of FLOW.
“I would be a little concerned were I an employee working with FLOW and LIME. I would be curious about what departments will go as a result of the merger, but I think this is a civic lesson that consumers will learn.
“Who knows maybe LIME has an idea of where it wants to take the company and also may want to preen itself to be ripe for the picking for a larger company and maybe two years from now we may see a larger company come and buy the new company we know as LIME and FLOW,” Marshall assessed. (GE)
