The Barbados Community College (BCC) is looking for “a substantial injection of funds”.

Principal Dr Gladstone Best says it’s needed so the “under-funded” institution can “maintain a competitive learning environment and continue to fulfil our role of educating high-quality workers for the various vocations”.

He made the comments at the BCC’s 41st graduation ceremony Saturday evening at the Wilder Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Complex.

Best said that over the years BCC had been under-funded and this had resulted in the deterioration of the physical plant – a matter “that needs to be addressed urgently”.

More than 1 300 students were listed for graduation, with the valedictorian being the visually-impaired Janeil Odle, who was awarded a Barbados Exhibition for her outstanding performance in the Associate Degree in Law and Sociology. (TY)
