Church sued

The “barefoot preacher” has filed a lawsuit against the local Methodist Church alleging breach of contract.

The Reverend William St Clair is also seeking an injunction to prevent the church from evicting him and his family from the Ebenezer manse where they have been living for the past year. The SUNDAY SUN was reliably informed that legal papers were filed on Friday evening on a certificate of urgency. President and general superintendent of the Methodist Church, Cuthbert Edwards, as well as two circuit stewards, were named in both matters.

When contacted yesterday, Queen’s Counsel Hal Gollop, who is representing St Clair, confirmed that the lawsuit had been filed.
