Canadian tourism arrivals in Barbados are expected to soar next year, signalling a rebounding of one of the island’s traditionally high source markets.
Barbados’ Consul General in Toronto, Haynesley Benn, said Monday night the coming year was shaping up to be a significant year of global growth for Barbados with tourist arrivals projected to increase “by more than five per cent”.
With the current forecast in Canada, Benn told guests attending a 65th anniversary reception for Air Canada in Toronto that next year was poised to “be the best performing year for Barbados in Canada since 1980”.
Supporting this projection was Air Canada executive Michael Friishdahl’s announcement of a significant increase in the airline’s seating capacity into Barbados next year.
