BAYLEY’S PRIMARY SCHOOL can boast of producing some of the top cricketers and sportspersons of this nation and they can now boast of having the best pavilion in the land.
On Wednesday night, the Minister of Youth and Sport Stephen Lashley and the MP for St Philip North Michael Lashley opened the new pavilion which is located next to the Bayley’s Primary School which has been a powerhouse in primary school cricket as well as football, netball and NAPSAC.
It was only fitting that many of the young cricketers as well as the principal Alfred Cox would have been part of the opening ceremony where Lashley declared that the construction of the pavilion was significant to service the school as well as the expanding Bayley’s, Bottom Bay, Merricks, Ruby Park and Apple Hall.
“This structure was the result of a successful collaborative effort between two statutory corporations, the National Sports Council provided the material and the National Housing Corporation provided the labour. This is tangible proof of what can be achieved when the public sector uses its resources assiduously.”
The Minister of Sports added that further work will continue on the pavilion which would see the first level being used for cultural and sedentary sporting activities. (KB)
