Drivers not at all happy

“Unhappy!”

That’s how regional drivers described their preparation for the Race of Champions at Bushy Park today and tomorrow.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Frankie Boodram and Jamaicans Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore and Jeff ‘Fudgie’ Panton were the first to air their concerns during a press conference in the media centre yesterday as the international drivers and the Barbadians were allowed to practise while they were denied an opportunity to drive on the track.

“We don’t know the new track. I walked about 13 miles on it today, but that is nothing like driving it and it is not fair for the international drivers and the Bajans, who we have to drive against, to be able to put in seat time on the track and we are not,” Boodram lamented.

Panton echoed similar sentiments, adding that it should be a fair fight on a level playing field and there seems to be a bias with the way things are going.
