Earthquake occurs off Guadeloupe

A 5.8 MAGNITUDE earthquake occurred north-west of Point-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe around 3:49 p.m. today.

Preliminary information from the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre indicated that it occurred at 16.31°N and 61.65°W. The depth was 103 kilometres.

Residents of Guadeloupe, Antigua, Dominica, Nevis and St Maarten reported feeling tremors. (NB)
