SHAMARH BROOKS boosted his chances of a national recall with a polished half-century in the second Barbados Pride cricket trial match at St Catherine Club, Bayfield, St Philip, yesterday.

Brooks followed up a century in the first trial on Monday at the same venue with a knock of 60 off 89 balls but it wasn’t enough to prevent Ashley Nurse XI from defeating Kevin Stoute XI for the second straight match in preparation for next month’s NAGICO Super50 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Batting first, Nurse XI were dismissed for 233 in 43.2 overs and Stoute XI were restricted to 225 for six, losing by eight runs.

Another century-maker from the first trial, Shai Hope made a gallant late attempt to achieve victory with a breezy 36 not out off 29 balls, spiced by two sixes off Dwayne Smith’s slippery fast-medium bowling and two fours, batting at No.8.
