BARBADOS BID FAREWELL to one of its centenarians today.

Onesta Albertina Devonish, who was 104-years-old, was laid to rest after a service at the Whitepark Wesleyan Holiness Church, St Michael.

Viola or Vi, as she was fondly known, lived a full life and according to her grandson Leslie Murray, loved the beach. She walked to and from the beach for her sea bath every day, well into her 90s.

For many years, Devonish was featured in THE NATION as the oldest person in Queen’s Park on Christmas mornings.

However, she was notably absent this year after passing away on December 18. (SAT)
