JASON CARMICHAEL’S love for animals as a child saw him starting his own business.
After spending countless hours after school and working at Robin Enterprises Store during his vacations, he took owner Robin Johnson’s advice to turn his passion into enterprise and at 17-years-old he presented a plan to different Bridgetown businesses with the hope that one of them would have taken him on.
Luckily, Barclays Bank listened and Ace Aquatics was started.
“We have nine people on staff full-time. Our main line is aquarium and pond installation and maintenance. We set up and maintain [them]. We also do consultations for somebody who might be a do-it-yourself type of person, who might not necessarily be looking to contract somebody to maintain their aquarium or pond all year round, but they might still be interested in getting some advice; we provide that service.”
A 5 000 gallon aquarium is the biggest the company has done to date. Carmichael added the company had done work on all the lakes at the swanky Sandy Lane Hotel. (Green Bananas Media)
