Cracking egg sales

THE ISLAND’S EGG SUPPLIERS are breaking new ground as they cash in on at least two emerging markets.

And while figures will not be available until mid-January, the head of the Egg and Poultry Producers’ Association says at least one of those markets has become a major boost for suppliers.

Carlyle Brathwaite, who is also the Barbados Agricultural Society’s (BAS) president, was speaking to the MIDWEEK Nation after a hastily called Press conference at the BAS headquarters yesterday where he revealed, among other things, that more cruise ships entering the Bridgetown Port were buying eggs from local suppliers.

“And we have to certify that those are catered for in the planning and that we don’t leave out the locals,” he stressed.
