GOVERNMENT COULD SOON face widespread industrial action in support of the retrenched National Conservation Commission (NCC) workers.
The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) warned yesterday they intend to hold a protest march which may be widespread and could last beyond a one-hour, a half-day or a whole day matter.
The NUPW action, which was declared by acting general secretary Roslyn Smith, should involve the union’s membership in various Government departments and statutory corporations.
“We are asking all public officers who are members of the union to come and support the cause because they are vulnerable too,” said Smith during a meeting attended by about 30 of the retrenched NCC employees at the NUPW’s Dalkeith, St Michael headquarters. (TY)
