Embattled principal Jeff Broomes has laid out a defence of his management of Parkinson Secondary School as teachers pile on the pressure to have the Ministry of Education take action against him.
In the nine-page document to former acting principal Barbara Bovell and copied to Chief Education Officer Laurie King, Broomes answers a litany of charges made by some Parkinson teachers. He also responded to what he called “some blatant lies”, a continuation of “quarrels” from 2013 that had already been settled, and a singular focus on “overturning” what he started and returning to the old ways that created an environment of “declining performance”.
Obtained by the DAILY NATION, the document, dated August 31, 2014, highlighted the contents of a meeting between Broomes and the chief education officer along with a “note taker”.
