AN ELDERLY known offender tried in vain to get bail from the District “A” Criminal Court today.

Offering a poem, a string of articulate pleas, and a claim that his health had deteriorated, 70-year-old Shurland Delacey Boyce urged Acting Magistrate Alliston Seale not to keep him on remand in Dodds. But it was to no avail.

The magistrate said Boyce had a criminal file stretching back over 30 years and was still getting into trouble, since his current charges were for offences within the last two years.

“When I try to do good, evil presents itself”, Boyce pleaded as he was again remanded until February 4 on charges that included stealing about $2 000 in items in July 2013 and assaulting a female island constable last August. (Coastline Communication)
