EVER SINCE A fire destroyed his home in 2013, Robert Howard has hit the streets with a donation form asking for help.

Today, fire officers came to his aid when they gathered food and clothing for the 61-year-old, donating it to him at the Barbados Fire Service’s Probyn Street, The City headquarters.

Officer Reshelle Griffith said it was not an initiative of the Fire Service, but of individual members.

“I saw Mr Howard asking for donations and I had also happened to be on duty when he came to the station for his confirmation letter. I told some others about his situation and posted it on Facebook and everybody came together to help,” she said.

As a result, fire officers and this friends and family put together a gift basket and a bag of clothing for Howard and his family. The grateful man said his old house was located in Field Road, Wildey, St Michael but he, along with a daughter, her husband and five children, now live in Country Road, St Michael. (CA)
