The group of recently arrived Nigerian students were up in arms again yesterday as one collapsed and had to be rushed to a private facility to seek medical attention, and to their dismay, the police turned up at the Casa Grande Hotel once more, this time accompanied by two armed soldiers.

Upset students told the MIDWEEK NATION that their ill colleague apparently reacted negatively to food ingested, while others complained they might have contracted either dengue fever or chikungunya because of continued exposure to mosquitoes since arriving.

“We are not being taken for medical attention and it is not as if we can walk into a pharmacy and buy medication,” said a concerned male student.

The 90 students are in Barbados to attend the Barbados Community College (BCC). However, after arriving only a week ago, most of them are ready to go back home, citing dissatisfaction with the living conditions at the Oldbury, St Philip hotel.
