PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart  says he is committed to ensuring that Barbados remains a zone of peace, especially for the sake of the island’s tourism.

The Prime Minister gave the commitment while addressing visitors from around the globe at his official residence last night when he hosted the first in the annual series of winter season receptions for people who repeatedly make Barbados their holiday destination of choice.

The event was organised by the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc, the successor to the defunct Barbados Tourism Authority.

Stuart said since tourism industry accounted for about 12 per cent of Barbados’ gross domestic product, Barbadians had a responsibility to make sure that the island continued to be as hospitable a destination as possible. (GC)
