Call to woo church folk using airlift

American megachurches may well spell megabucks – or at least some badly needed cash – for Barbados tourism.

Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner indicated this Thursday during a media briefing, in which she singled out megachurches in Atlanta, United States.

She told reporters Delta Air Lines’ resumption of Atlanta-Barbados flights last December, ending a three-year absence in the market, offered Barbadians an opportunity to benefit from America’s churches with massive followings.

“Delta [flying] out of Atlanta offers a tremendous opportunity for the religious tourism operatives,” she remarked.

“It offers a tremendous opportunity to the promoters of Gospelfest and all the other festivals that we have within the Christian calendar.” (TY)
