THE COMMISSION for Pan-African Affairs has been appointed to mediate the ongoing dispute between the Nigerian students and Donna St Hill.

This was announced by Minister of Education Ronald Jones at a media conference this evening at the Ministry’s Elsie Payne Complex.

Jones said the Commission would also help the students to be properly integrated into Barbadian society.

He called the situation surrounding the Nigerians “unfortunate” but said they would be ready to start studies at the Barbados Community College by the end of the month. They are in a special programme of study.

No date was announced, but a reception will be held for the students and an official from the Nigerian High Commission in Trinidad and Tobago will be coming to Barbados to have discussion with government.

Jones said there were lessons to be learnt from this and they would be putting a policy measure in place to deal with international students. (MB)
