Sandy Lane looks to set new record

THE SANDY LANE CHARITABLE TRUST GOLF EVENT 2015 tossed up a number of records with the organisers looking for the annual affair to surpass the record $5 million raised in 2014 for vulnerable children and various medical and educational needs throughout the island.

While the trustees’ focus is on the continued support of the Sunshine Early Stimulation Centre and the John Payne School for Exceptional Children, the Trust through the annual tournament and fund raising dinner and auction provides for assistance with the purchase and provision of wheelchairs and other projects such as steering youth away from crime, drugs and violence.

This year the champion team on the green was that of Alex Jordan, Shane Johnson, Patrick O’Hara and his brother, Mark O’Hara. The competition was so fierece that four teams finished on 91 points and therefore second and third were determined by a count back using the best back nine scores.

Val Teslia, Ken Teslia, Harry Goodman and Don Jackson grabbed the second spot from Pamela Hiles, Guy Beauvaris, Nick Barnham and Michael Challis. (KB)
